Sue and Pete’s home was a brand new new build. Bright, clean, and well finished, but it felt clinical and cold. The kind of space that looked complete on paper, yet never quite felt comfortable to live in.

Pete was open to getting help. Both he and Sue had struggled to agree on artwork and accessories, and rather than making the wrong choices, they found themselves choosing nothing at all. Sue, however, felt hesitant. Trusting someone else with their space felt like a big emotional and financial step, and letting go of control did not come easily.

Over time, that hesitation softened.

Being local, attending events at The Artizen, and seeing the work the team had delivered for others gave Sue and Pete confidence. Eventually, they invited Andreea into their home to share ideas on how the space could truly work for them.

The first conversation was not about colour or style. It was about how they lived. How the room was used day to day. What mattered to them. The furniture they already owned stayed. A sofa, an armchair, and oak pieces with subtle blues, greens, and greys in the drawers became key reference points. The rest of the room, with its white walls and cream carpet, was ready for warmth and character.

I was nervous about letting go, but the moment we saw the room, all of that disappeared. It felt like us, just better than we ever imagined.

Sue and Pete had already chosen an artwork by Alison Johnson, who is also based locally in Warwickshire. That artwork became the anchor for the entire room. Alison’s work does not simply decorate a space. It captures feeling. Each piece is open to interpretation, soft yet intentional, making it the perfect starting point.

Andreea took all of this in and asked for trust. Sue and Pete agreed to step back and let the team bring the vision together.

On the day of installation, the Artizen team carefully layered the room. Additional artwork helped balance the walls and suit the scale of the space. Bespoke curtains, created in collaboration with their seamstress Elaine, added warmth while working seamlessly with the existing blinds. Lighting was softened with table lamps and a standing lamp, allowing the room to glow gently without relying on overhead light.

Side tables echoed the colours already present, while chrome accents tied everything together. Cushions and a throw introduced softness, drawing colour from the artwork without overwhelming the space. A carefully chosen diffuser and fresh flowers completed the room, adding life and a sense of calm.

The result was exactly what Sue and Pete had hoped for, even if they had not been able to picture it themselves. A space that felt clean but not cold. Stylish but not cluttered. Calm, personal, and easy to live in.

Most importantly, it was a room that finally brought them together. A shared space they both felt proud of, comfortable in, and truly at home.
