This project was all about timing. Although John and Nicola’s property was generously sized, they were missing a dining space that truly worked for their family and the way they lived. They loved entertaining and were proud of their garden, so the decision was made to create an orangery that would bring the outside in and be enjoyed throughout the year.

The structure was completed towards the end of November, leaving the Artizen team a short window to design, furnish, and style the room. Having worked with John and Nicola before, the team understood their lifestyle immediately and were able to move quickly with confidence.

A bold, baroque inspired direction was chosen, led by a copper colour palette that flowed naturally from the rest of the home. A carefully selected dining table suited the space perfectly, large enough for gatherings without overwhelming the room. A mix of seating and reclaimed wood finishes added warmth and texture, while layered accessories created a cosy feel during the colder months.

Art became the anchor of the space. A striking piece by Tony Hinchcliffe set the tone for the room and was subtly uplighted in the evening, becoming both a focal point and a soft source of light. Thoughtfully chosen lighting echoed the metallic tones throughout the space, keeping the atmosphere warm and understated.

The fact that The Artizen team could simply step in and bring that room to life in such a short space of time, considering our way of living as well as our interior style preference, is truly astonishing. The team really do feel part of our family.

Practicality was built in from the start. Discreet storage allowed the room to remain calm and uncluttered, whether dressed for a celebration or enjoyed day to day.

With Christmas approaching, the orangery became the setting for family gatherings that year. The Artizen team styled the room for the season so John and Nicola could step straight in and enjoy it.

Now lived in across every season, the orangery works just as beautifully in summer as it does in winter. Friends often comment that it feels as though it has always been part of the house. For John and Nicola, that feeling makes it perfect.
