This time, the brief was slightly different. The room itself had already been completed to a high standard. The colours had been chosen. The foundation was there. What was missing was the final layer. The confidence to bring everything together without getting it wrong.
The space was to become a guest bedroom. A room they could feel proud of. One that felt characterful, warm, and inviting, yet still spacious and refined.
The starting point was clear. Eggshell tones paired with bold pink. From there, the team at The Artizen began as they always do, with the art.
A collection of limited editions by Bollee Patino was chosen as the anchor for the room. The pieces were vibrant, textured, and full of personality, but also perfectly balanced in scale so they could be layered without overwhelming the space.
What made them even more powerful was the story behind them.
Pieces such as Rise Above and Dream Seeker explore the idea of personal journey. The child sitting on suitcases represents not baggage, but a collection of memories and experiences. A life story to stand on, not carry. The presence of birds and horizon lines reinforces perspective and possibility, while another piece captures a child imagining flight, a reminder to dream big and aim higher.
Even in a guest bedroom, meaning matters. Every corner of a home should have a story.
”We knew what we wanted, but not how to bring it together. The Artizen team finished the room in a way we could never have done ourselves.

With the artwork established, the rest of the room followed naturally. The aim was to enhance the sense of space rather than overpower it. Two fuchsia velvet chairs were introduced as a bold yet considered statement, positioned against the eggshell wardrobes. These mirrored the vibrant tones within the artwork while creating a relaxed seating area within the room.
A coffee table with antique brass detailing added warmth and referenced the character of the property, while maintaining a clean and contemporary edge. Soft white cushions were used to break up the intensity of the pink, adding balance and refinement.
Across the room, the bed became the second focal point. From the bedding to the cushions and throw, every layer reflected the tones within the artwork above it. Large statement lamps were chosen to match the scale of the room, avoiding the common mistake of under proportioned lighting. Their glass bodies allowed light to move freely, while darker bases connected back to the artwork frames.
Personal touches were introduced through framed photographs, grounding the space and making it feel lived in rather than staged.
Scent was also considered carefully. A layered fragrance of pomegranate and vanilla created an atmosphere that felt both vibrant and comforting. As with all Artizen spaces, the room was designed to engage every sense, not just the visual.
Practicality played a key role too. The built in wardrobes were still needed for the owners’ storage, so an alternative solution was introduced for guests. A mirror unit with a concealed rail and shelf provided a simple yet highly effective place for clothing and personal items. Months later, the owners described this as one of the most thoughtful and useful features in the room.
Additional storage was incorporated through a sideboard opposite the bed, doubling as a television unit. This also became a styling feature, housing the diffuser, flowers, and decorative elements that tied the entire room together.
To introduce greenery without adding maintenance, high quality artificial plants were used. This ensured the room would remain fresh and complete all year round, without becoming another task to manage.
The final result is a guest bedroom that feels elevated, welcoming, and complete. A space with personality and meaning, designed not just to impress, but to be enjoyed.
