Created as part of a wider interior design project by The Artizen, this commission became what was often described as the missing piece of the jigsaw. The room itself was already coming together beautifully, with limited editions by Joe Galindo anchoring the main scheme through rich blues and layered tones, but one wall above the sideboard still called for something more. It needed an artwork with presence, one that would make a statement and complete the room, but without overpowering the calm balance that had already been created.
The subject came naturally.
For the client, the owl held personal symbolism, making it far more than simply an aesthetic choice. It was important that this meaning found its way into the room in a way that felt sophisticated and integral to the design.
Commission was the obvious answer.
The scale needed was highly specific, and finding something off the shelf in exactly the right proportions, while also carrying the right palette and subject matter, would have been almost impossible. This is where commission often offers the perfect solution, allowing an artwork to be created not only for the person, but for the precise architecture of the room.
”It was the missing piece we did not know the room was waiting for.

The brief was to create a piece that echoed the blues already present in the Joe Galindo works, while introducing softer greys that would unify the whole space. The owl would act as a focal point, but equally as an anchor, setting the tone of the room rather than competing within it.
The result was exactly that.
The commission brought a quiet strength to the space, full of presence and symbolism, while sitting beautifully within the wider scheme. Framed in black, the artwork gained an added sharpness and definition, creating a striking contrast against the white wall and giving the piece an architectural quality as well as an artistic one.
Above the sideboard, it became the feature the room had been waiting for.
This commission is a wonderful example of how bespoke art can do more than fill a space. It can resolve a design challenge, deepen the story of a room and bring personal symbolism into an interior in a way that feels entirely natural.
Sometimes a room only needs one final piece to feel complete.
This was that piece.
