Some commissions begin with memory, others begin with passion. This one began with a lifelong admiration for film, music and cultural icons, all of which shaped a media room designed around the owner’s personality and interests.

Among those influences, Clint Eastwood stood above the rest. A favourite actor for many years and a figure whose presence and character the owner wanted reflected within the room. Yet despite searching, there was no existing artwork that felt quite right. Nothing captured Eastwood in a way that felt personal enough or distinctive enough to belong within the collection.

Rather than settle for something close, the decision was made to commission the piece.

For this project, Scott Tetlow was the natural choice. His work is unlike much else in the art world. In a space often dominated by acrylics, oils and heavily embellished surfaces, Scott works with ink and paper, creating pieces that feel instinctive, expressive and incredibly refined.

That approach was exactly what this commission called for.

Scott captured exactly what I hoped for. It is Clint, but in a way that feels completely my own.

The aim was not to overcrowd the piece with symbolism or distraction, but to distil the essence of one of Clint Eastwood’s most iconic roles and allow character alone to carry the artwork. Scott’s intuitive process, where each mark has consequence and each movement shapes the final outcome, brought a rawness and authenticity that felt entirely suited to Eastwood.

He captured it beautifully.

What emerged was not simply a portrait, but a piece that held the mood, presence and unmistakable cool associated with Eastwood at his most iconic. It had the tension, confidence and spirit the owner had hoped for, while fitting naturally within the wider character of the room.

That is the beauty of commission. When a collector cannot find the piece they are looking for, they can create it. And often those become the pieces with the greatest personal meaning.

The finished artwork now takes pride of place in what the owner affectionately calls his Clint Eastwood corner, a part of the room dedicated to film, character and the stories that inspire him.

He could not be happier with the result.
