Martin Robson is a contemporary British wildlife artist known for highly realistic animal paintings created with acrylic on canvas. Born in 1969, Martin grew up near Cannock Chase in Staffordshire and now lives close to Lichfield. Before becoming a full-time fine artist, he studied Graphic Design and spent 25 years working in commercial art and creative design.

Martin Robson creates realistic wildlife paintings, animal portraits, original acrylic artwork and limited editions. His paintings are characterised by precise detail, closely framed compositions and carefully controlled light and shadow. The Artizen offers both original works and limited editions from Martin’s wildlife collection.

Martin Robson is particularly known for paintings of big cats and other powerful wildlife subjects, including lions, tigers, leopards, elephants and wolves. His wider collection also features birds, woodland animals, British wildlife and commissioned pet portraits.

Martin’s artwork is distinguished by its exceptional realism and dramatic use of light. He often places the animal close to the picture plane, bringing its markings, expression and character into sharp focus. Detailed textures are balanced by deep shadows and carefully chosen highlights, giving each painting a powerful sense of depth and presence. His background in graphic design can also be seen in the clarity and balance of his compositions.

Martin Robson primarily paints with acrylic on canvas. Acrylic allows him to develop multiple layers of fine detail while controlling changes in tone, colour and light. Certain works or studies may use other materials, so the exact medium and finish should always be checked on the individual artwork page.

Martin Robson grew up on the edge of Cannock Chase and lives near Lichfield in Staffordshire. The surrounding countryside played an important part in his early appreciation of animals, woodland and the natural world. He later studied at Stafford Art College and Wolverhampton University.

Martin works from carefully selected photographic references that allow him to study the animal’s form, markings and expression in detail. He looks for references with strong lighting and interesting areas of shadow, which help him create depth and atmosphere. The painting is then built carefully in acrylic, with close attention given to texture, tonal changes and reflected light.

Martin Robson’s artwork appeals to collectors who value technical accomplishment, realistic wildlife art and paintings with a strong visual presence. Original works offer a unique example of his detailed painting process, while signed limited editions provide another way to collect his imagery. Availability, edition size and certification should be checked on each individual product page.
