Toni Bardet

Toni Bardet is a Spanish painter from a family of artists (art has always been part of his DNA). From a young age, he displayed an unusual talent, learning from his family and the artists who visited his home. Bardet has worked as a full-time artist since the age of 16, making his work a reflection of his own transformation.
His journey has not been linear or comfortable, but rather a path of crisis, exploration, and rebirth. A severe mental crisis marked a turning point in his life, forcing him to confront his own way of seeing the world. It was then that painting ceased to be merely a means of expression and became his refuge (the only space where he could pour out his emotions without restrictions).
Seeking a fresh start, he moved to London as an impressionist figurative painter. There, in the city’s suburbs, amid chaos and anonymity, he began to rebuild himself as an artist. London offered him a new perspective (the mix of cultures and the city’s inexhaustible energy deeply influenced his work). His brushstrokes became more aggressive, his palette more intense, and his pictorial language more visceral. Yet, even as his art evolved, his personal process remained unfinished, as Bardet continued his search for self-discovery.
Five years later, feeling that he still had a long journey ahead, he decided to move to Los Angeles. There, surrounded by light, the ocean, and a vibrant art scene, he found the ultimate inspiration to reinvent himself. The influence of Californian artists, visits to museums such as LACMA, The Broad, and The Getty, as well as the galleries of Santa Monica, led him to experiment with neo-expressionism. During this period, his work took on a freer, rawer, and more authentic character, reflecting the intensity of his experiences with greater clarity.
Today, back in Spain, Bardet has consolidated a style that is not just an artistic manifestation but also a personal catharsis. His painting is a combination of strength and fragility, chaos and order, destruction and rebirth. Every brushstroke echoes a turbulent past but also stands as proof that art has the power to transform, rebuild, and ultimately, save.
Bardet began his career with training in figurative realism, later evolving towards impressionism. However, he found his true artistic voice in neo-expressionism, a style that allows him to channel his inner world with complete freedom.
His work has been exhibited in major galleries and international events, solidifying his presence in the contemporary art scene. He has exhibited in Japan, Spain, Panama, California, and the United Kingdom, gaining recognition for his ability to convey intense emotions through colour and the gestural quality of his painting.
